Choque del dia V.

I have realized, that I haven't publish any post a long time, so let's update my blog a little bit.

  • Imagine a situation: Big bus terminal, lot of counters(around 40), each counter is selling tickets to different destination, you can read the destination above the counter. It looks like easy system - you just find the counter with the destination, where you want to go, pay the ticket and find the platform... So why from each counter you can see the hand waving at you, trying to persuade you to buy the ticket to their destination, even if you don't show any interest, even if you have no idea, where the city is located, even if you know, where you want to go? I was trying to find some logical explanation to the behavior of the ticket sellers - I failed.
  • I thought, that I am good in orientation and setting the directions. Then I came to Central America and was totally confused. I had strange feeling everyday and I wasn't able to define, what's wrong, until I realized one simple thing: I have been taught all my life, that at noon the sun is at south and the shadow is facing north and that the sun is going clockwise on the sky... There is one small detail, which I forgot about: Panama has latitude between 8 and 10° North, which is southern than the Tropic of Cancer (23,5°N). I arrived to Central America on June 29th, which was few days after June 21st, when the sun was directly above this tropic, which in other words means, that at noon the sun was on North and the shadow was facing south... And the sun was going counterclockwise on the sky these days. Now - as the sun is already above the southern hemisphere and soon will be above the Tropic of Capricorn, everything is "normal". But I was quite ashamed, that it took me several days to realize, what the hell is "wrong".

World is small - AIESEC world even smaller

When I came to Central America, people told me, that there is a Slovak girl, who was at Costarican MC few years ago and is still in Costa Rica. We didn't manage to meet in July, but as I had much more time now, we finally were able to agree on a date and met one evening. Just for a while, just to share our experience in Costa Rica.

Zuzana is from AIESEC Bratislava, she was in Slovak National Trainers Team, but as she was in Costa Rica since 2003 and I generally didn't have much interaction with AIESEC Slovakia, I didn't expect that we will know each other.

During the conversation we got to the point, when she said, that she was in Prague only once, after the National Training Conference 2003, which was in Slovakia... Hmm, but NTC was in Slovakia in 2001, 2002 and 2004. So I started to think about it more. In 2004 Zuzana was already in Costa Rica and I was at NTC 2001 (as newie) as well as NTC 2002 (as OC)... So I asked her, if she mean NTC in Liptovska Osada near Ruzomberok, if she mean the NTC, where chair was Vivek from AI (India) and we realized, that she was facilitating at the same conference, where I was part of OC...

The Wolrd is small - AIESEC world even smaller...

P.S. People from 2002 recruitment - was anyone of you in the fLC called Pink panters? If yes, please let me know.
